It consists of 27 countries - members of the European Union. But not all of them are pictured as one could wish. Generally every country shows a different stereotype, which is a nice way to laugh it off or discuss the problem. But some coutries feel really insulted. Bulgaria is showed as Turkish toilet, in the Netherlands there are towers of minarets covered with water, on France there's a huge banner with the word "STRIKE", Sweden is hidden in IKEA box, Romania is Dracula's Themepark, Germany is covered with highways forming a swastika, Poland is a potato field with priests holding gay flag, and so on...
When I saw Entropa in the news I just knew that famous and talented Czech sculptor David Cerny had something to do with that. And I was right, Entropa is his idea, yet a lot of people had helped him to find a way to show each country.
So what? Some people are furious, some have mixed feeling, but hardly no-one defeds the sculpture. What a pity. Cause you know what? I think Entropa is great. I can quote one Czech minister, who had a speech during the opening, he said with his soviet accent: "it is just art, nothing less, nothing more". Entropa gives you a kick, makes you think, and that is an essential part of art. Moreover, it's David Cerny's art piece and this man has been stirring water for a long time. Too bad modern Europe can't understand that...
